I feel that this chorus to the song speaks VERY appropriately to the topic of what I would like to cover here. First of all we have to cover why you should be reading this in the first place. The first questions that I usually encounter are a variation of the following:
“Why does it matter what the name of God is?”
“Why does it matter as long as I accept God as Lord and his Son, Jesus as my personal Savior?”
“As long as I establish a personal relationship with God, isn’t that all that matters?”
So do these questions have an impact on my answers? Absolutely. I in no way feel that if you don’t use the name of The Creator that there is any negative impact on you spiritually, but I also feel that there have been a lot of my friends or people in passing that have some of the following comments to say as well:
“I just don’t feel as close to God as I feel I should”
“I feel like there is something more to what the Bible is teaching us, but I just don’t know what is missing”
“I feel like I am ready to move on; ‘Start eating meat instead of drinking milk’ as some say”
It is mainly for the third statement that I have heard so many times throughout my life that I have started this whole quest. I was there once too, and I know so many people that have become bored with the Bible Studies out there, or even Sunday School/Church. Is this because these people that I am meeting have lost their way? Are they starting down a bad path that has made God cut them off? Is He “Hardening their Heart” as he did to Pharaoh in the book of Exodus? This is one concern and Fear that has made so many Christians afraid to speak out in their own Congregations. They are afraid of rejection, and afraid that they are the only one feeling this way. My own wife felt this way for a long time before I started showing her the things that I have discovered. Most of what I found is right in everyone’s faces - right there yet out of reach because they don’t know how to look for it.
I do not try and push any idea as Fact and absolute, but I do my best to help guide my friends and family in a way that will ALWAYS help them and never cause them to stumble. I am not a Pastor, nor even a professional Theologian. I simply am on an everlasting quest to find the answers to some of the most fundamental questions. I have always found inconsistencies in the answers to these questions which has caused me to look harder at the original question and why I need to know.
So I’ll first answer the questions at the heading of this paper.
1. What is God’s Name?
2. Why should you (the reader) care?
The answer to what is His name is simply answered, but I will provide some facts that will help prove this. On top of this, people have rarely understood why His name is the way that it is and why it is so important. The answer to this is even more difficult to explain, but it is more important for the reader to understand this part first before just simply knowing it.
Yahweh is an understood name to some, rarely heard to more and a new name to most that ask the question. To understand what His name IS would be second to what His name MEANS though. So to understand what The Creator’s name is you must first understand the meaning. After all… “A name is a name is a name”, but the meaning of a name has much more to it than that.
Most of the readers that are reading this have either heard of the last name “Johnson”, or have even known someone by that last name, but have any of you ever wondered how someone got that name in the first place? If you go to http://surnames.behindthename.com, you will find the ability to research a lot of names. If you research the name Johnson, it will give you the following meaning behind the surname:
JOHNSON
SOURCE: Given Name
USAGE: English
PRONOUNCED: JAHN-sən
Meaning & History - Means "son of JOHN". Famous bearers include American Presidents Andrew Johnson (1808-1875) and Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973).
So if you look at the original printing of the name you get an extra letter to further the significance of the name. Johnsson (John’s Son). This last name gives a very important clue into the Name of The Creator. Origin.
Origin has a very significant purpose behind any person’s name. It’s where they (the named) came from. Their originating source. Jesus of Nazareth is another prime example of this. There were other Jesus’s at the time of The Messiah’s Life. He wasn’t the only one, so how can we tell who The Savior is, and who is just another person named Jesus? Well if you place a significance towards Origin, you get “Jesus of Nazareth.” His other known name would have possibly been “Jesus of Joseph”, Jesus Josephson” or “Jesus son of Joseph.” We would know him as the son of The Creator (Yahweh), and believe it or not Jesus’s original name gave this root as well, but to the people of the time, he would need to be known by his Earthly Father, but we’ll get into that later.
So I’m sure the question you are asking is “So what does any of this have to do with Yahweh, or whatever his name is? He has no beginning or origin? What is your point here?”
What if I were to tell you that the question would have the answer in it as well. Let me explain. Let’s quote some scripture now.
Exodus 3:13-15 gives us all of the answers and it is one of the most quoted Scriptures out of the Old Testament. This is when Moses (Mosheh is his original name) sees the burning bush and goes into the cave. He is away from Egypt and away from the Jews. He is tending the sheep and then Yahweh calls out to him and asks him to go to Pharaoh and demand the release of His People (the promised children of Israel we call “Jews”, “Israelites” or “Hebrews” today). One of the first things Mosheh says is that he isn’t worthy, and we all know this part. So I’ll start where The Creators’ name is first given meaning through Mosheh:
Exodus 3:13-15 (KJV - 1873 edition)
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your Fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say unto me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
OK. So “I AM” is his name right? Hey wait… he said “this is my name for ever (forever)” so why don’t we call him “I AM” instead of God or The LORD? I’ll explain that too, but bear with me for just a moment more.
Exodus 3:13-15 (NLT)
13 But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they won’t believe me. They will ask ‘which God are you talking about? What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
14 God replied, “I AM THE ONE WHO ALWAYS IS.* Just tell them ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
15 God also said, Tell them “The Lord, the God of your ancestors – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob – has sent me to you.’ This will be my name forever; it has always been my name, and it will be used throughout all generations.
OK. So once again “I AM” is his name, so what’s with the Yahweh thing?
Well once again I’m going to bring up Origin. Way back during these times in history, when you introduced yourself to a new person for the first time, you would give your proper name including you “Surname” or place of Origin. So Jesus was called Jesus of Nazareth because his Origin – or place of knowing – was Nazareth and his name is Jesus.
So Yahweh has no Origin right? Yahweh is the English pronunciation of the Hebrew word - יהוה
When this is given in the English Dictionary you get these four Letters – YHWH
That is where Yahweh comes from. There is much more to his name than just four letters however. These four Hebrew words have a MUCH deeper meaning than just his name. First when Yahweh gave his name, he first gave his Origin. “I AM THAT I AM” or “I AM THE ONE WHO ALWAYS IS” IS his Origin! I’m going to show you something about his name too. I’m going to place his name Letter for Letter and also give an explanation that is hard pressed to find proof for, yet explains everything about him.
Ready??? Go!!!
“Why does it matter what the name of God is?”
“Why does it matter as long as I accept God as Lord and his Son, Jesus as my personal Savior?”
“As long as I establish a personal relationship with God, isn’t that all that matters?”

Ready??? Go!!!
As I had said previously, this is something that is very hard to prove, yet makes everything make too much sense at the same time.
So… His name Yahweh means “Air, Fire, Water and Earth”!!!
Another way to say this would be the Following:
Exodus 3:13-15 (NLT – My revised Edition)
13 But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they won’t believe me. They will ask ‘which God are you talking about? What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
14 God replied, “THIS IS MY ORIGIN: I AM THE AIR, THE FIRE, THE WATER AND THE EARTH; I AM ALL THAT IS, ALL THAT WAS AND ALL THAT WILL EVER BE. THIS IS THE TOTALITY OF MY BEING.” Just tell them ‘Yahweh’ has sent me to you.’”
15 Yahweh also said, Tell them “Yahweh, the Almighty One of your ancestors – the Almighty One of Abraham, the Almighty One of Isaac, and the Almighty One of Jacob – has sent me to you.’ This will be my name forever; it has always been my name, and it will be used throughout all generations.
In the King James Edition I own, the NLT I own, the NIV and the NKJV (New King James Version) I have, there is a footnote where the Asterisk is in the original NLT posting above. It explains what was there and reads in the following way:
3:15 – Hebrew Yahweh; traditionally rendered Jehovah.
It’s in everyone’s Bible! Nearly every edition that has footnotes has this original meaning, and it GIVES HIM HIS NAME THAT WILL BE USED THROUGHOUT ALL GENERATIONS!!!!
So there is His name… Yahweh. Never Lost, Never Forgotten. Not too Holy or he would not have said “For all Generations.” This proves who he is in my mind. I have been studying this whole concept and theology for the last 13 years alone just into his name! I am a Messianic Jew who has given his whole focus to Yahweh Almighty to proclaim His NAME to anyone with “an ear to hear”.
So now what about Jesus? A long time ago before Yahweh’s name was “lost”, everyone had His name WITHIN their own to show their Origin too! Mathew’s name was originally Mattithyah.
This gives his praise and Origin to Yahweh because Mattithyah MEANS: Gift of Yahweh!
John’s name was once Yachanan which means: Yahweh is Merciful!
And guess what Jesus’s name was once? It was Yahshua! Which means: Yahweh is Salvation!
There is Meaning in Names and Power and respect as well. My Name stems from Yeremyah (Jeremiah in modern English) which means: May Yahweh Lift up!
Once I discovered this I have only wanted to Love Yahweh even more, for my Mother named me Jeremy. Jeremy has no direct connection to ANYTHING other than “Jeremiah III, a Biblical Figure” which I soon discovered was the weeping prophet himself. A cause to help me search for Yahweh when I didn’t even know it. A blessing in perfect disguise!
Now what about the second Question? “Why should you (the reader) care about his name? This is a VERY important question indeed.
“As long as I pray to God in my own way, he hears me and I don’t need to know his name for my soul to speak to him right? It’s only a technicality that he doesn’t care about right? It only matters about intent.”
Yes this is very true. Of course Yahweh listens to you and loves you whether you know him by his name or not. His spirit hears all pleas that reach out to him for SURE! I would never tell anyone that they are wrong for praying to God, but what does Yahweh say about his Name verses a title like “God” or “LORD”. He is very forgiving of people who don’t know that they are doing something wrong of course, but what about His name? Does he say anything about us being REQUIRED to use ONLY His name? Actually He does…
Exodus 3:15 (NLT)
15…This (Yahweh) will be my name forever; it has always been my name, and it will be used throughout all generations.
This is spoken as “Matter-of-Factly” as opposed to a suggestion or simply implied. When Yahweh says something, we don’t doubt it at all. If He says something IS, then it just simply IS. So Yahweh is His name forever and will be used throughout all generations. This is further explained by Dr. James Strong Himself when you look into something deeper in the Scripture cited above. “To be used throughout all generations…”
I mainly read from “The Book of Yahweh” nowadays. It was proven over and over to be the most academically correct translation of “The Holy Scriptures” since it was first placed into one book instead of kept in separate scrolls. I do not endorse “The House of Yahweh”, nor do they support or endorse me. I simply use the information and work they have done which has saved me countless YEARS to do it all myself. I still use all of my Bibles alongside this Book with “Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.” Something that allows me to compare everything side-by-side to ensure there are no Major flaws in any of my cited Scriptures. But “The Book of Yahweh” has proven to have its very diligently compared and scrutinized value in the furthering of my quest for truth. That being said. I will also quote from this book the most. I have spent many years comparing this material to the other 6 Bibles and 2 Tanakh that I possess and have never seen a more accurate Translation/Transliteration.
This being said, there is a footnote at the bottom of the Translation of Exodus 3:15 from “The Book of Yahweh”. First the original Translation though.
Exodus 3:13-15 (The Book of Yahweh – Tenth Edition)
13 Then Mosheh said to Yahweh; Suppose I go to the children of Israyl, and say to them: The Almighty Father of your Fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me; what is His name? Then what shall I tell them?
14 Then Yahweh said to Mosheh, 2a I am who I am. And he said: This is what you are to say to the children of Israyl; 2b YAHWEH has sent me to you.
15 Yahweh also said to Mosheh: this also shall you say to the children of Israyl; YAHWEH, the Heavenly Father of your fathers, the Mighty One of Abraham, the Mighty One of Isaac, and the Mighty One of Yaaqob (Jacob), has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER – and this is 1 MY MEMORIAL; the Name by which I am to be remembered by, from generation to generation, for all generations.
This sounds longer and much more profound. And there’s proof too. Cited Academic and Religious texts were compared and referenced throughout “The Book of Yahweh” and I left these in the cited scripts for comparison too.
Footnote 2a: AHYAH ASHER AHYAH: Clarke’s Commentary, vol. 1 page 306, and The Hebraic Tongue Restored by Fabre d’Olivet, page 91.

This will be a discussion that will either turn you away from my message forever, or make you do the research yourself because what I am about to reveal is backed up by many, MANY books and documents included the cited work which is “Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance.” Regardless, you should NOT read this if you are new to the faith or have been raised your whole life in the Church. It can be VERY detrimental to your faith and I do not wish to shaken or shatter ANYONE’s faith… EVER!
Here we go:
Yeremyah (Jeremiah) 23:23-27 (The Book of Yahweh – Tenth Edition)
23 Am I a Father near at hand, says Yahweh: and not a Father far off?
24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places so I cannot see him? Says Yahweh. Do I not fill Heaven and Earth? says Yahweh.
25 I have heard what the prophets say, who prophesy lies in My Name, saying; I have dreamed! I have dreamed!
26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophecy lies? Yes, they are prophets of the deceits of their own minds;
27 Who devise; plan and scheme, to cause my people to forget My Name though their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbor, just as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Baal, Lord
Wait What??? First let’s look at the King James Edition First so you can see as well.
Jeremiah 23:23-27 (KJV – 1873 edition)
23 Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?
24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? Saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the Lord.
25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in My Name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
Now I had a lot of trouble with this one at first. For one thing there is only the implication that Baal means “Lord” in “The Book of Yahweh” instead of a full explanation. This made me instantly research this so I could either throw this new book away, or re-look at my whole life in “God” and “The Lord”. This scared the wits out of me. So I went to a “safe” book to put my bet on. Strong’s exhaustive Concordance. Here’s what I found.
First I looked up the word “Baal” online. Baal is the old Canaanite God of Slaughter. He is the God of Death, Destruction and Chaos. Not a Good Being to be comparing to God with. Next, I looked up Baal in the Concordance. Here we go…
Page 93 of the main concordance lists all of the times that the name/word Baal comes up. A lot! I looked for the scripture in question… Jeremiah 23:27. Sure enough it was there, and it directed me to the same word as all of the other ones. Strong’s #1168. Here’s the trick
Strong’s #1168 says the following: Ba’al, bah’ –al; the same as 1167; Baal a Phoenician Deity:- Baal, [plur.] Baalim.
There really isn’t much to go off of. But it said “the same as 1167.” So what does 1167 say? Is there something else I’m missing?
Strong’s #1167: ba’al, bah’ –al; from 1166; a master; hence a husband, or (fig.) owner (often used with another noun in modifications of this latter sense):- +archer, +babbler, +bird, captain, chief man, +confederate, +have to do, +dreamer, those to whom it is due, +furious, those that are given to it, great, +hairy, he that hath it, have, +horseman, husband, lord, man, +married, master, person, +sworn, they of
Wait a second… lord? Not the same as “The Lord” though right? After all my Lord is usually found in the Bible as LORD or Lord. Not lowercase. Well, sorry guys. You succeeded in Capitalizing his name is all. So The Lord = Baal. LORD = BAAL. No difference. This shook me to my core, but after comparing everything, looking through the histories and reading the stories of the “lost” name of our Creator. It was an accident, but nevertheless bad.
When I called on “The Lord” my heart spoke to the Almighty One, but my Mouth still evoked the meaning of the name of Baal. So let’s look at the last line of Jeremiah with the correct translation then:
Jeremiah 23:23-27 (KJV – 1873 edition)
23 Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?
24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? Saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the Lord.
25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in My Name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for “The Lord”.
What about “God” though? Well… sure enough even “God” had a bad meaning. “God” only showed up in the last years of the Temple and only on texts with the name Yahweh on it too. Underneath Yahweh was another more modern word… “Elohim” or sometimes “El”. Look up the meaning of this word and it stems to a root word too.
God stemmed from (El)ohim which means: The Gods. Literally Plural. The original Pagan Concept of Divinity. Properly “El” means “The Gods”. We as Jews learn that “Elohim” means “Almighty God” growing up. But in reality it Actually means “The Almighty Gods” Plural again! Never was his name actually written as “Elohim”, “Adonai” or anything other than Yahweh until later scriptures where it was still Yahweh there, but had these names under His name to signify to use these lesser titles for his name “Because His name was to Holy to say out loud for us as sinners”. Wow…….. I don’t even know who I am anymore.
So how do we fix this? Are we going to hell for using these lesser titles and names? The answer is NO! Yahweh is Mighty and Just. He will help us correct what is wrong in our lives over time and will see to it that we are forgiven for our transgressions. Yahshua took our punishment in advance so that we can learn, be forgiven and move past our downfalls. He died for our sins so we can KNOW our Almighty Father, Creator of all Yahweh. Thank Yahweh that light cannot contain darkness within. It brightens us and makes us brighter altogether. So Never fear!!! Use His Name the way it was written in the beginning. His Origin. His meaning. And his love throughout all Generations and He is quick to forgive us our Sins!
My hope for all who read this is nothing but good and blessings in their lives. See the truth. Pick up a Bible. Challenge all Scripture! We are TOLD TO CHALLENGE ONE ANOTHER!!! PREACHERS, PASTORS, PRIESTS, and Catholic FATHERS are NO EXCEPTION!!! Challenge one another so that you can grow together! And never take your eyes off the prize. Eternity with our Father in Heaven.
Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed (Holy) is thy name,
Thy Kingdom Come,
Thy Will Be done,
On Earth as it is in Heaven,
Give us this day our Daily Bread,
And forgive us our Trespasses (Transgressions/Sins)
As we forgive those who Trespass against us,
And Lead us Not into Temptation,
But deliver us from “The Evil One”
For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power
And the glory Forever and Ever
HalleluYahweh!!!! (Yep, even this has an origin meaning!)

26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophecy lies? Yes, they are prophets of the deceits of their own minds;
27 Who devise; plan and scheme, to cause my people to forget My Name though their dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbor, just as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Baal, Lord
